🌕 Full Moon Reflections: Let That Sh*t Go
August 9th Full Moon Over Lake Huron (Michigan)
November 5th Full Moon
There’s something about the full moon that just hits different. It’s like the universe saying, “Hey, it’s time to stop carrying all that heavy stuff.”
You don’t need to know astrology or own a crystal collection to feel it. The pull, the energy, the reminder to pause and let go. Life gets loud. We hold on to too much: the guilt, the worry, the people who drain us. The full moon is a reset button we didn’t know we needed.
When I do my full moon rituals, it’s not fancy. I grab a white candle because it represents clarity, cleansing, and light, and I light it. The flicker alone feels like an exhale. I burn sage or palo santo wood, letting the smoke move through the room, through me. Then I take off my shoes and stand barefoot on the ground, grass, dirt, snow, whatever’s real in that moment. It’s grounding. It’s raw. It reminds me that no matter what’s spinning in my world, the earth still holds me steady.
Then I grab a pen and a piece of paper and just… write. Every frustration. Every thought I’ve been replaying in my head. Every “should have” and “what if.” The things that keep me up at night or make my chest tight during the day.
And when I’m done? I burn that paper and let that sh*t go. I watch the fire dance, the words turn to ash, the smoke carries it all away. I take another deep breath, and with that exhale, I imagine releasing everything I’ve been holding.
Sometimes I’ll pull a tarot or affirmation card, asking, “What do I need to know right now?” Other times, I’ll just sit in silence and let the moonlight hit my face. Something is healing about that. Like the world slows down for a moment and reminds me that endings and beginnings can exist at the same time.
I whisper a quiet thank you to the moon, to the lesson, to myself for not giving up. Then I sit in the stillness for a minute and just feel the difference. It’s subtle, but it’s real……like my soul just unclenched a little.
You can make it your own. Add music, movement, or meditation. Do it under the stars or in your living room. The “how” doesn’t matter; the letting go does.
At Mindful Motion, we’re all about helping you release, reset, and come home to yourself. Whether it’s through candlelight yoga, sound baths, or your own little full moon moment. It’s about finding peace in the chaos.
So next full moon, grab a candle, light your sage, take your shoes off, write it all down… and let that sh*t go.
You deserve to feel light again.
